It is written
A phrase I have heard often enough in my life. If “it is written”, it is beyond reproach and to be trusted.
Nowadays that is not quite as true as in the past as everyone can get on the Web and write. It is obvious that much does not qualify for the words beyond reproach and trustworthy.
When it come to religion, many refer to the written word of centuries past.
The problem with all the old writings is becoming obvious with time. Much of it was written long after the characters the words were referring to had died. There were translations, edits and insertions that were known by religious leaders and historians. They knew this for decades, but they did not admit it.
Holding back information crucial to a person’s belief is no different than lying.
The written works of man are not to be trusted, unless they can be verified.
