faith seems to waver and wane all the time

Kaykay says:

I am a Christian, even if this post might not make me sound like a very good one!
It’s just my faith seems to waver and wane all the time: sometimes my faith can be so strong, but at other times I find myself even doubting the existance of God.

Don’t get me wrong: time and time again, God has proven his existance to me by answering prayers. But sometimes I just think things like ‘how do i know this is true answer to prayer and not just coincidence?’, ‘how do i know the bible is true’, ‘how i do i know that there is a god if there is no scientific evidence?’

I really am a Christian, but sometimes these doubts creep up on me, and I’m just wondering if any of you experience these, and, if you do, how you deal with them.

Any replies would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Hi friend!

To ebb and flow like waves is a common phenomenon in faith. In the situation of ebb we must be thankful to God that our faith has increased, and when it is in recession it is a sort of testing of faith then we should pray to God and endeavor whole-heatedly that this situation is changed. This is being steadfast on the right path.

When we endeavor our utmost then we are rewarded by God by increasing our level of faith even more than our level at previous stage. Faith in God is endless and this way we advance forward.

I would advise you to earnestly make some sort of following prayer mostly while you are alone.

All praise belongs to God alone, Lord of all the creations and their Sustainer (who knows all situations of heart, mind and soul and in fact is their tuner and healer). In spite of our weaknesses and sins He very mercifully loves us and forgives us. He provides for us out of His mercy before any action proceeds from us, and after we have acted He rewards our action out of His mercy.

He is Gracious, the Merciful and Master of the Day of Judgment. Thee alone do we worship and Thee alone do we implore for help. Guide us along Thy straight path and establish us firmly on it; the path of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy blessings, those who have not incurred Thy displeasure, nor of those who went astray and did not reach Thee. Amen.

This would be in accordance with the guidance of Adam, Moses and Jesus – all the true MessengersProphets of God.

Deuteronomy 6:4-10 (King James Version)

4Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:

5And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

6And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

7And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

8And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

9And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

10And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not.

Only one God revealed Himself to Moses, and Moses only preached one God.

Matthew 22:37 (King James Version)

King James Version (KJV)

37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

Jesus also followed in the footsteps of Moses and confirmed ONENESS of God without any change and implored Him when in distress, in trouble or in need.

Thanks

One Response to “faith seems to waver and wane all the time”

    Hello my friend,
Doubt and a lack of faith are 2 absolutely different things. Faith is wrought by the evidence of things experience.
Most of us start with being willing to believe. “I believe you when you tell me if I take certain actions I will get the result you tell me I will. Willingness, born out of believe, has us take said action. By getting the results guaranteed I now Have faith in the actions leading to the results.
When we earnestly seek God for the first time we don’t ‘know’ for sure the prayer will be answered– we can BELIEVE it will- but we ourselves have no proof it does cause we have no experience with God. Ponder the idea of bringing another to Jesus when you haven’t any experience yourself. The words one uses fall on deaf ears.
Proving God is, by way of the material, impossible and not necessary or important. I have FAITH the scriptures say ‘ do not throw pearls before swine’.
Jesus said to the pharrises;” My world is no part of this one- if it were there would be war”( I’m not anal about the exact wording. That would be only if I were trying to sell you on me and NOT my point(s) ).
1 drop of ocean water has all the properties of the whole ocean. We are part and parcel of God. We have to be ultimately, for before Him there was nothing. We can’t see Him because the spiritual has nothing to do with material. There will be those who say we were made from dust. I tell them the key word then is ‘ ULTIMATELY’ I have no place in debate or argument. I have ceast fighting.
As for doubts – they are of the mind and the mind is material. Material wants material. The bodily senses want their desires. If you have experienced God – no thoughts can decrease your faith – it is just knowing the constitutional position of He and you. If one has faith, his consciousness moves his actions in service of God in everything he does irregardless as to what his mind would try to put in front of his consciousness. You are NOT your body or mind. You are a spirit soul on a journey back to God. Remember Jesus saying the night He was arrested? His disciples ( i forget who was there, it might have been Peter) fell asleep knowing it was His last night with them- He then remarked ;” The spirit is willing, but the flesh is week”. You see, even the MIND filled with knowledge of Jesus circumstances could not keep them awake. The body and mind are suspect. The mind can not be the host of our faith.
All miseries can be seen as a false identification with the body.
One action born out of willingness to have God can bring another to Him. There is no one more pleasing to the Lord than the one who tries to bring others to Him.
My experience of 25 years serving God has taught me that there is a ‘ readiness’ in the prospect for God. When someone is ready there is nothing you can say that will be” wrong.” When
someone is not there is nothing you can say that will be “wright”
If you have experienced God you will understand this. It is important to know when to not waste time. We do not want to deprive others that are ready of their chance.
Finally, I thank you for your service.! I hope I have been useful here on your journey back home- it can be a lonely one.
    Sincerely With Love,
    Hank
