#660 paarsurrey,

Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is only a Successor of Muhammad in our times. Even Muhammad could make mistakes of understanding and did not have any supernatural powers:

AYAH al-Isra` 17:93

Literal
(Word by Word) Or is for you a house of ornament or you ascend into the sky. And never we will believe in your ascension until you bring down to us a book we could read it.” Say, “Glorified (is) my Lord! “What am I but a human, a Messenger.”
Sher Ali[IMG] `Or, thou have a house of gold or thou ascend up into heaven; and we will not believe in thy ascension until thou send down to us a Book that we can read.’ Say, `Holy is my Lord ! I am but a mortal sent as a Messenger.’
John Medows Rodwell[IMG] Or thou have a house of gold; or thou mount up into Heaven; nor will we believe in thy mounting up, till thou send down to us a book which we may read.” SAY: Praise be to my Lord! Am I more than a man, an apostle?
al-Isra` 17:93

Again from G-d:

AYAH ash-Shu`ara` 26:3

Arabic[IMG] لَعَلَّكَ بَاخِعٌ نَّفْسَكَ أَلَّا يَكُونُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ [IMG]
Transliteration[IMG] LaAAallaka bakhiAAun nafsaka alla yakoonoo mu/mineena
Literal
(Word by Word) Perhaps you (would) kill yourself* that not they become believers.
Sher Ali[IMG] Haply thou* wilt grieve thyself to death because they believe not.
George Sale[IMG] Peradventure thou afflictest thy* self unto death, lest the Meccans become not true believers. [IMG]
John Medows Rodwell[IMG] Haply thou wearest thyself* away with grief because they will not believe.
ash-Shu`ara` 26:3
*Muhammad

A messenger of G-d has to deliver the message G-d gave him, else, he has not done his duty towards humanity, and in his footsteps, the believers also.
I know one won’t like it.

I was not even implying to that. I know that you are an atheist, not a Christian. My point was that though you studied Christianity intensively and other religions not up-to that level; yet your study of or research of revealed religions was impaired only because you did not have a right tool or principle of comparative study of religions ; and then you all of a sudden decided to become an Atheist, just for convenience.

I had suggested you to read a book “THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE TEACHINGS OF ISLAM” by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad 1835-1908- the Promised Messiah; I again give its link below:

http://www.alislam.org/library/books/Philosophy-of-Teachings-of-Islam.pdf

This was an essay written by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad 1835-1908 read at a conference of great religions held at Lahore in the then British India, in the year 1896.

The very first sentence of the essay reads “It is necessary that a claim and the reasons in support of it must be set forth from a revealed book.”

I use to describe it as a “Golden rule for comparative study of revealed religions”; and this principle is explained in the next two pages by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad:

Quote:

“In this auspicious Conference the purpose of which is that those who have been invited to participate in it should expound the merits of their respective religions with reference to the questions that have been formulated. I shall today set forth the merits of Islam. Before I proceed to do so I deem it proper to announce that I have made it obligatory upon myself that whatever I state will be based upon the Holy Quran which is the Word of God Almighty.

I consider it essential that everyone who follows a book, believing it to be revealed, should base his exposition upon that book and should not so extend the scope of his advocacy of his faith as if he is compiling a new book.

As it is my purpose today to establish the merits of the Holy Quran and to demonstrate its excellence, it is incumbent upon me not to state anything which is not comprehended in the Quran and to set forth everything on the basis of its verses and in accord with their meaning and that which might be inferred from them, so that those attending the Conference should encounter no difficulty in carrying out a comparison between the teachings of different religions.

As all those who believe in a revealed book will also confine themselves to statements comprised in their respective revealed books, I shall not make any reference to the traditions of the Holy Prophet, inasmuch as all true traditions are only derived from the Holy Quran which is a perfect book comprehending all other books.

In short this is the day of the manifestation of the glory of the Holy Quran and I humbly beseech God Almighty to assist me in this undertaking. Amin. “ Unquote

Had one known this principle before; I think one’s decision would have been different.

One is welcome to try it now; if one pleases.

122nd Annual Convention (Jalsa Salana Qadian) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in India

January 28, 2014

30th December 2013
PRESS RELEASE

122nd Jalsa Salana Qadian Concludes
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad delivers concluding address from London

The World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and Fifth Khalifa, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, concluded the 122nd Annual Convention (Jalsa Salana) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in India on Sunday 29 December 2013 with a faith-inspiring and powerful address.

The Khalifa addressed the final session via a satellite link from the Baitul Futuh Mosque in London. Over 17,000 people in Qadian attended the Jalsa, whilst almost 5,000 had gathered in London for the concluding session.

During his hour-long address, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad spoke of how God Almighty was guiding people towards Ahmadiyyat, the true Islam.

His Holiness said that many Muslims were “in despair” at the state of the Muslim world, but were unable to express their anxieties due to a fear of their so-called religious scholars, who he said were motivated only by their own selfish interests.

Nonetheless, there were many sincere Muslims who were praying for a Messiah and Mahdi to appear and Allah was answering their prayers by guiding them to the truth.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad gave both current day and historical examples of how people had joined the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community after seeing very clear, divinely inspired dreams illustrating the truth of the Promised Messiah, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian. His Holiness said there were countless such “astonishing” incidents.

The Khalifa concluded by speaking of how the opponents of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community were continually attempting to stem its progress through their cruelties and aggression. His Holiness said their efforts would always be frustrated as the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community had divine support.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

“Having witnessed Allah’s Guidance and Help, can we ever become scared or fearful due to the cruelties inflicted upon us by our opponents? Certainly not!”

His Holiness continued:

“Fourteen hundred years ago, Hazrat Bilal, tolerated all of the pain inflicted upon him, and responded only by saying ‘Allah is One, Allah is One’. And today, that example is a lesson to us as we face opposition and persecution.

It calls us to our real purpose, that in spite of these cruelties, we will spread the Oneness of God to the corners of the world and for its establishment we will never let our efforts, which are due to the Promised Messiah, ever decrease in any way.”

After his address, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad concluded the Jalsa Salana with a silent prayer.

On soul:Mirza Ghulam Ahmad

January 26, 2014

I have given following comments on the “Triangulations” blog on the topic “Heavenly Soul Bank & Right Belief”:

paarsurrey

I would like to quote here on “soul” from Mirza Ghulam Ahmad 1835-1908, The Promised Messiah/Imam Mahdi:

“It is absolutely true that the soul is a fine light developed inside the body and which is nurtured in the womb. To begin with it is hidden and imperceptible and later it is made manifest. From the very beginning its essence is present in the sperm. It is related to the sperm in a mysterious manner by the design and command and will of God. It is a bright and illumined quality of the sperm. It cannot be said that it is a part of the sperm as matter is part of matter, nor can it be said that it comes from outside or falls upon the earth and gets mixed with the matter of the sperm. It is latent in the sperm as fire is latent in the flint.”

“The truth is that the soul is developed in the body and this also proves that it is created and is not self-existent.”

A Humanist/Atheist cannot reject Mirza Ghulam Ahmad without a valid reason

July 19, 2013

There has been an interesting discussion with Arkenaten who is a Humanist/Atheist on one of my post <“

“The universe constantly proclaims; there is one One who laid its foundation”

”>.
The discussion is given here-under.

.     Arkenaten Says:

July 18, 2013 at 5:38 pm |

Smile…this bloke was considered a fraud by many of your Muslim brothers, Yes?

As a humanist one has to see the reasoning and respect others. You agree with the reasons given?

.     Arkenaten Says: July 19, 2013 at 6:40 pm |

I dont ‘follow what you are asking. Can you rephrase the question please

Mirza Ghulam Ahmad gave valid reasons; they should either accept him or give reasons as to why they don’t accept him. Everybody should do that.

Well, I am not Muslim, and It doesn’t really bother me at all,but most Muslims said he was a fraud so I am assuming they believed they gave valid reasons.

You obviously disagree. Tough being a member of a persecuted sect isn’t it?

However, It’s nice to read that Islam has just as many dissenters within its ranks as all the other religions.

I think you should give your own reasons.
Mirza Ghulam Ahmad did not address Muslims only; he addressed everybody of all religions/faiths and those who have no faith- the Atheists.
He was a messenger prophet of the one true God even for me and you.

Thanks

Smile..if you say so. I never heard of him til I met you and then researched him.
Seems like .. prophet if his message from the one true god never reached my neck of the woods, or many other places, for that matter.
The responsibility of a prophet it to make sure the message gets out, surely?
I think your reasoning is very poor, my friend.

The responsibility of a messenger prophet is fixed by one who has sent him; it should not be your worry.

Am I right?

Now the message has reached you. Being a Humanist you cannot reject him without a valid reason.

Do you have a valid reason? I think you don’t have.

Natural qualities done at proper occasion and place under the control of reason become moral qualities

May 27, 2013

Human beings have many natural qualities in them; the natural qualities done on proper occasion and place with a rational approach become moral qualities.

I would like to quote here in this connection from the book “ THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE TEACHINGS OF ISLAM” by Hadrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad- the Promised Messiah:

Mirza Ghualm Ahmad- the Promised Messiah and Imam Mahdi says:

“The truth is that corresponding to every physical action there is an inner quality which is moral; for instance, a person sheds tears through the eyes and corresponding to that action there is an inner quality which is called tenderness, which takes on the character of a moral quality when, under the control of reason, it is exercised on its proper occasion. In the same way, a person defends himself against the attack of an enemy with his hands, and corresponding to this action there is an inner quality which is called bravery. When this quality is exercised at its proper place and on its proper occasion, it is called a moral quality.

Similarly a person sometimes seeks to relieve the oppressed from the oppression of tyrants, or desires to make provision for the indigent and the hungry, or wishes to serve his fellow beings in some other way, and corresponding to such action there is an inner quality which is designated mercy.

Sometimes a person punishes a wrongdoer and corresponding to such action there is an inner quality which is called retribution. Sometimes a person does not wish to attack one who attacks him and forbears to take action against a wrongdoer, corresponding to which there is a quality which is called forbearance or endurance.

Sometimes a person works with his hands or feet or employs his mind and intellect or his wealth in order to promote the welfare of his fellow beings, corresponding to which there is an inner quality which is called benevolence.

Thus, when a person exercises all these qualities on their proper occasions and at their proper places they are called moral qualities.

Vedas | Quran

May 22, 2013

I have written following posts on my favourite discussion forum; the topic is The Vedas and the Qur’an – Uncreated” < http://www.religiousforums.com/forum/comparative-religion/148225-vedas-quran-uncreated.html>; one could view the same and comment there or in this blog “ Paarsurrey”, my pleasure.

Paarsurrey says:

#2 We Muslims don’t believe that everything written in the Vedas is in the pristine original form; though Truth could be found in the Vedas and other Word revealed before Quran. We don’t reject them.

#5 Please elaborate as to what do you mean by this. Vedas existed before man existed or before man was able to speak?

#6 Yes knowledge is an attribute of the one true God; hence it is eternal with Him. All attributes of the one true God are eternal and not separable from Him.

But I don’t agree that Vedas are eternal; the knowledge of the one true God is with Him he reveals through the perfect men of a time only that is required by the human beings for guidance in ethical, moral and spiritual realms.

[15:22] And there is not a thing but with Us are the treasures thereof and We send it not down except in a known measure.

http://www.alislam.org/quran/search2/showChapter.php?ch=15&verse=21

Those who believe in Vedas; should tell the time , place and the man on whom a particular Veda was revealed. Now we are not talking in terms of abstractions but in concrete terms; please.

#9 In fact I had already answered the question in post #6 above, and I again mention the reply from Quran:

[15:22] And there is not a thing but with Us are the treasures thereof and We send it not down except in a known measure.

http://www.alislam.org/quran/search2/showChapter.php?ch=15&verse=21

#12     There are two distinct phenomena.
1. The knowledge of the one true God; he is All-Knowing and none can know better than him as he has created everything in the universe and beyond it; that knowledge is absolute and it is not possible for the humans to know that; our brains don’t have the capacity to know that all. Quran mention it:

[18:110] Say, ‘If the ocean became ink for the words of my Lord, surely, the ocean would be exhausted before the words of my Lord came to an end, even though We brought the like thereof as further help.’
[18:111] Say, ‘I am only a man like yourselves; but I have received the revelation that your God is only One God. So let him who hopes to meet his Lord do good deeds, and let him join no one in the worship of his Lord.’

http://www.alislam.org/quran/search2/showChapter.php?ch=18&verse=109

Like knowledge, wisdom is also an attribute of Him; the All-Wise one true God therefore reveals on His prophets messengers only to the extent which is appropriate for that time; it is wisdom not withholding of any knowledge. The verse already quoted by me in this connection may please be referred <[15:22] And there is not a thing but with Us are the treasures thereof and We send it not down except in a known measure.>.

Thanks

Mirza Ghulam Ahmad’s claim in own words; the Promised Messiah, Jesus’ Second Coming

May 1, 2013

The Promised Messiah- Jesus’ Second Coming

Hank Kimball  Says:

(While commenting on one of my post<https://paarsurrey.wordpress.com/2013/05/01/faith-or-superstition/#comment-2708>)

“I am going to find out all I can from his (Mirza Ghulam Ahmad’s) words, and not those that think he’s a heretic.

I am open to all information that anyone claims is from God or Jesus.”

Mirza Ghulam Ahmad- the Promised Messiah claims:

“I have publicly announced, having been informed of it by God through revelation, that the real and true Promised Messiah who is also the real Mahdi, tidings of whose appearance are to be found in the Bible and the Quran and whose coming is promised also in the Hadith, is myself; who is, however, not provided with any sword or gun.

I have been commanded by God to invite people with humility and gentleness to God, Who is the true God, Eternal and Unchangeable, Who has perfect Holiness, perfect Knowledge, perfect Mercy, and perfect Justice.

I am the light of this dark age; he who follows me will be saved from falling into the pit prepared by the Devil for those who walk in darkness. I have been sent by God to lead the people of the world to the true God through peace and humility, and to reassert the reign of morals in Islam.

God has provided me with heavenly signs, for the satisfaction of seekers after truth. He has done wonderful things in my support; He has disclosed to me secrets of the unseen and of the future which, according to the holy books, is the sign of a true claimant to divine office, and He has vouchsafed to me holy and pure Knowledge. Therefore, the souls which hate truth and are pleased with darkness, have turned against me. But I have decided to be sympathetic towards mankind – as far as I can.

So, in this age the greatest sympathy for the Christians is that their attention should be called to the true God, Who is free from such defects as being born and having to suffer death and undergo suffering, the God who made the earliest heavenly bodies spherical in shape and, in His law of nature, set down this point of spiritual guidance that, like a sphere, there is in Him Unity and absence of direction.

That is why the things which occupy space have not been made triangular, i.e., the things which God created first such as the earth, the heaven, the sun and the moon, and all the stars, and elements – all are spherical, the spherical nature of which points towards Unity. Therefore there can be no greater sympathy with the Christians than that they should be guided towards the God Whose creations declare Him to be free from the idea of trinity.”
