We understand from Quran/Islam/Muhammad that hell is not eternal; it is like a hospital where they get cured from their sins.

How do you even entertain such a thought in your head?

@ makagutu
It is not my thought; we believe it on the basis of Quran/Islam/Muhammad.
Please read the following Q&A:
Q How long will a person remain in Heaven or Hell?
A Paradise is ever lasting.
Hell is like a hospital where patients are kept for a limited time to be cured of their spiritual ailments. They would be transferred to Heaven after having been cured of their spiritual diseases. Hell is thus for a limited period of time.

“Please read the following questions
1. When did heaven and hell come to be?
2. Why were they necessary?
3. Where are they?”
Answers:
1. The concept of Heaven and the Hell came into exist when the One-True-God willed to create man.
2. The concept of Junnah (or heaven) came into existence to reward those who do good deed; and hell is its opposite pole.
3. These are spiritual concepts (not material) and hence don’t require any place in the Universe.

When you say concept, do you mean they aren’t real places just as the concept of god doesn’t represent a real being or did you have a different meaning for it?
Do you also mean to say here that from the very first moment, there was a plan to send some people to hell?

The concept might be a relative perception; in relation to an Absolute Being who is Immortal others are just illusions, as their existence is not real but bestowed by Him; and at His mercy.

I think I mentioned in one of my earlier comments that relatively Heaven is more ever-lasting; and Hell is just a south pole if we take Heaven a north pole.
